Zouma/Leeds update

|

Kurt Zouma could return to action for the Hammers this weekend against Leeds.

The Hammers defender has been out since the clash with his former club Chelsea at the beginning of December.

However, we have been told by a top source that the France international couldĀ  be in the squad when the Irons play Leeds in the Premier League this weekend.

Should he not be then he looks certain to be involved against Manchester United next weekend.

That news will be a huge boost for boss David Moyes, who has also seen Angelo Ogbonna go down with a season-ending injury in recent weeks.

He has had to rely on both Craig Dawson and Issa Diop in the absence of the pair but Zouma could well be back in the team against the Whites this weekend.

Leeds have struggled immensely throughout the season and are currently hovering just over the relegation zone, while the Irons knocked them out of the FA Cup at the weekend with a comfortable 2-0 win.

Personally Dawson and Diop have 2 clean sheets in two games and while it is brilliant to have KZ back, would it not be the correct thing to back the 2 CB’s in the team and leave KZ on the bench for the weekend. If I was Dawson or Diop I would find it hard to take being dropped after 2 consecutive clean sheets and I would also see it as damaging squad morale. The decision with Cresswell was a different decision as we have no proper LB but for me I would like to think Moyes backs his players and makes a brave call that may/may not work but will have greater implications for the squad dynamics going forward for the rest of the season.

Agree with you Johnham, don’t change a winning team, if Diop can keep playing well lets ride the momentum, imho he is better than Zouma as a left CB even if overall he isnt quite at Zouma’s level. If we can however sign a genuine left CB get him in COYI!!!

Got to agree John it would surely be wrong message to drop Dawson or Diop after Two Clean sheets, one against Leeds already. Kurt could easily slot in later without rushing him.
