Although the recent BBC Sport study on ticket shows West Ham has the second most expensive ticket in the Premier League at £95 it has been taken out of context of the overall Hammers ticket strategy.
The £95 ticket price tag is for one-off tickets for the most popular games in the best possible seats, so it doesn’t tell the full story of ticket pricing at West Ham.
Season ticket holders like myself in the cheapest band 4 category currently pay £651 for 19 home matches which works out at £34.26 per game for an adult which includes those popular category A games. A family of four with two children under 10 will pay £1,522 per season this year or an average of £20 per game per family member.
When we move to the Olympic Stadium nest season a new cheaper band 5 will sell adult tickets for £289 per season which will work out £15.21 per game. A family of four with two children under 16 could buy four season tickets for a total of £776 per year meaning the average per family member would be just £10.25 per game which would make football truly affordable.
It is worth remembering this added facts when the headlines of the most expensive tickets are targeted against the Hammers.
I think the board are doing their bit for making football affordable. However there will always be a premium to pay for the best games in the best seats especially when they sold as a one off purchase.
We must also remember that any money we make from ticket sales goes to pay for players transfers and paying down the debt. It doesn’t end up in the pockets of some greedy share holders.
i would love you to send this report to a sympathetic reporter who could get this published plus get some information on some other clubs just to show how much the BBC have got this wrong as i think just putting it on here will not be seen in the public eye as it should.

Utter nonsense. We are expensive and it’s embarrassing to justify our away prices when supporters up and down the country are seeking a £20 away ticket. We are charging £60 to Chelsea fans and that is expensive. I believe we charged Everyon the same. Its all well and good preaching that the OS will be cheaper but that is not the case for many. I’m a band 2 season ticket holder at the Boleyn who has had to pay Band 1 at the OS because we could not get same ticket. Therefore, I’m paying more!! I’m not the only one and a couple of kids for a quid games doesn’t justify it.
The £95 price isn’t irrelevant though, they’re comparing like for like and the fact remains that our most expensive ticket is the second most expensive in the PL.
The simple fact that yes we season ticket holders get it at a much cheaper rate but the £95 ticket is absolutely scandalous.I believe that they were also offering a restricted view ticket at £75 for the Chelsea game when i had a quick butchers.No one can justify making people pay £95 for a ticket for a football match.Its disgusting & pure greed on the behalf of the club.Rant over 😉

Only joking lads,I feel for some fans who have real problems raising the money for games after years of following the club when their financial lives change,
But you can only compare London prices as living standards elsewhere are lower,
The tickets should be free at Sunderland for the rest of the season under the trade description act

For the Newcastle game at the Boleyn Ground Adults tickets were £45 and Kids were a quid. That is the same price paid by away fans I believe. I am going to Palace on Saturday and that cost me £40, the Spurs away game will cost £54
