Moysie guesses at length of Arthur lay-off …err, think not

|

I’m become increasingly amused with David Moyes and not I hasten to add in a particularly bad way!

Like all football club manager there is more than a bit of lily gilding going on at times and the expression – ‘speak less say more’ usually jumps into my head.

A good example of this came when revealing his view of the Arthur Masuaku injury – a story we reported earlier when he declared: ““He has had a knee operation which I think will keep him out for three months but I am not a doctor. That is my guess.”

Sorry Moysie why would you be guessing when he has been in the hands of specialists and the club’s medical staff who will know within a couple of weeks when he’s likely to be available.

There can be no question that the manager would be the first one to know so we can assume the medical report says three months rather than Moyes taking a punt at it. If he hasn’t spoken to them he’s not doing his  job.

We are, after all, talking about a guy who keeps everything as far as injuries and team selection etc under wraps – he wouldn’t let a cat out of a cage – never mind a bag.

He followed all this up by discussing – without too much clarity  – what we can expect in the transfer window explaining that we are starting from a different position with Arthur and Mikey absent.

But he chose to leave it there so as mentioned: “Speak less say more” seems a reasonable request.

    We can guess.
It wasn’t an ACL because he would be out for at least 6 months.
It wasn’t normal because they don’t need a scope for that.
So it is likely meniscal and, because they continued playing him, minor. Operated on to prevent worsening.
How long does an EPL player stay off following meniscal surgery nowadays?
