West Ham want England star

|

West Ham want England star Harry Maguire who has suffered and awful season at Manchester United this term. The central defender has struggled to feature in the first team under Erik ten Hag but that’s not deterred the Hammers interest.

The 30-year-old arrived at Old Trafford for £80 million, in a high profile and protracted deal from Leicester City.

However Maguire has fallen behind Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof at Man U. One has to assume his England spot also under threat due to a lack of game time, so a move may well be on the cards.

ESPN are reporting that United anticipate interest from West Ham United, who they suggest approached the Red Devils in January.

Now The Mail Online claim that Man United will hand him £10m if he leaves Old Trafford this summer.

Maguire still has two years left on his £190,000-a-week contract. But he is highly unlikely to get anywhere near that sum at any other club.

Maguire’s transfer would make sense for all the parties concerned and Moyes is supposedly a fan.

The player would reinvigorate his flailing career at the Hammers as he looks to have next to no opportunity at Old Trafford.

West Ham would get a top-class defender who has proved his skills in the English top flight. That is assuming of course that the player could regain his previous form.

Maguire has been a shadow of his former self in recent years but maybe a move is just what he needs.

The Red Devils could recoup some of the £80m fee they paid to Leicester City in 2019.

I fear whoever we want to buy will be delayed by, the Board’s ” we are going on holiday mentality”. Nothing gets done until they have been in the Sun for a few weeks. A good reason why West Ham struggle in the Transfer Market.

I fear we sign players who are past their best and cost a fortune. Signing Maguire on a permanent basis not for me – only viable option is a loan for 12 months on reduced salary even st that I would be looking at the future.. If this is all our recruitment team can line up then it’s a shocking indictment of their existence. If this is what Moyes wants it is just another reason to get rid of him. Have we not learned anything from the Danny Ings signing. Making these same mistakes over and over again are just costing the club an absolute fortune and solving other clubs problems.
